Now and then!

There is so much that the heart yearns for,

Day and night and more!

The old roads, the twists and turns

Memories galore it churns.

Is it better now than then?

The mind wonders as I pen.                                                  

Perhaps 'then'.. that is where I reside,

Timeless moments tested and tried!

I know 'now' is  where I am meant to be.

But who will rein the heart from being free?

While I thrive in the excuse of this freedom,

Never will I forget that 'now' will be 'then' soon!

Weight gain on credit!

The thought of losing weight is like using a credit card.
Just like how you buy now and pay later; you eat now with the belief
to lose it all later!

Sanity it is!

The blooming Hibiscus was gloomy today.

Why is your rosy cheek so dull if I may say?
Nudged the Jasmine tree in her fragrant sway.

What's so special about the budding Basil;

That she has a special place in the window sill?

I am pretty and red and every gardener's delight

Why must I stand at a corner out of sight?

As she sulked and irked her mind,

Running came some kids behind.

They adored the prized shoe- flower in their backyard,

Trying to memorise the botany very very hard!

I have a special place here.

So what if I am not adorned like her.

Never will I compare again,

                                                             As this is all it takes to remain sane!

Up she stood in all her glory

Gently inviting me to tell a story

With drum rolls playing to the morning sun
Peeking at me... Am I the only one!

                                                     Well then, let me tell you what I saw;

A bird's view of the world outside

The sound, picture and light,

Smart distractions all out of sight.

A much awaited call

That breaks all the norm

Embracing me in her abundance was...

Now I know!!

Experience is directly proportional to one's age, I thought so until life's realities were laid in front of me.
The older I get the more knowledgeable and seasoned I will become. I can talk on any subject with authority and answer any possible question. Age will progress me with the skills I need to do any task that comes my way. Then wonder how my helper who is in her mid -twenties can bathe my wriggling baby single handed while I look on in amazement. Wonder how a bunch of pre-school kids can span the entire swimming pool without any swimming board.Wonder how my teenager niece can bake chocolate cakes while all I can do is admire the sweet aroma wafting through the air.Wonder how; Experience it is!!!! The more I do something the better I get at it. Its elementary isn't it...experience comes with practice and practice makes one perfect. Now I know how a five year old can navigate the iPhone while I am still struggling to tap it open. Now I Know!!!
